Personal TARDIS Smart Safe is (Almost!) Bigger on the Inside [Pic]

The mini TARDIS Smart Safe is really spiffy — it requires an iPhone or Android phone to operate, as it locks and unlocks with a personal passcode, available on a corresponding app! It also plays a sound effect as you open and even has flashing lights! The safe measures 5.9? x 5.9? x 10.2? and is just under $60! [Get it @ The Neatoshop] No related posts.

Better Organized Search

OK – it's official: I'm on an official Google+ Love Fest! The expanded vision of what Google is up to here is starting to unfold, and it's wonderful.

In a comment on my last post about Google History, +Thomas Morffew noted the "Other" view in History. Click on that and you see Google doing some very interesting organizing of your searches – over time. In the below image, you can see my search for happiness, well, at least you can online searches for terms related to "happiness" through Google search (part of a new project I'm working on).

Aside from showing the nice visual composite, the resulting found objects (or "tasks"), and the results of the searches, it also show you your activity around this search topic over time. Doesn't that graphic kind of remind you of Ripples? Hmmmm…..

Here's what I can't quite tell yet, but I also think that Google may be applying a little bit of the Knowledge Graph here to try to categorize these searches, to clump them, if you will. For instance, my searches for "Twitter" are clumped under a category called "Internet." Wow.

Also, I think that Google may be preparing to allow us to publicly share these historical compilations themselves. Why do I say that? Well, look at the image below. I can edit the title, so that it no longer says "Happiness" but instead "The Search for Happiness." I can also add a little tagline, as I did with "This was part of my research for the new site." I can also delete individual items from the results on this page. A kind of curated search results that can be shared. Wow. What will they think of next?

No, seriously, what will they think of next? I can't wait to see. I feel like a kid in a candy shop…

Lifetime Webhosting wird eingestellt

Hm… Klingt für mich nach einer sehr kurzen Lebenserwartung.

Action Required:
Legacy Service End of Life

Dear Ken McKinney,

We've been analyzing customer usage of Joyent’s systems and noticed that you are one of the few customers that are still on our early products and have not migrated to our new platform, the Joyent Cloud.

For many business reasons, including infrastructure performance, service quality and manageability, these early products are nearing their End of Life. We plan to sunset these services on October 31, 2012 and we'd like to walk you through a few options.

We understand this might be an inconvenience for you, but we have a plan and options to make this transition as easy as possible.  We’ve been developing more functionality on our new cloud infrastructure, the Joyent Cloud, for our customers who care about performance, resiliency and security.  Now’s the time to take advantage of all the new capabilities you don’t have today. Everyone that’s moved to our new cloud infrastructure has been pleased with the results.

We appreciate and value you as one of Joyent's lifetime Shared Hosting customers. As this service is one of our earliest offerings, and has now run its course, your lifetime service will end on October 31, 2012. However, we believe that you will enjoy the new functionalities of the Joyent Cloud. To show you our appreciation, as one of Joyent's lifetime Shared Hosting customers, we'd like to offer you a free 512MB SmartMachine on the Joyent Cloud for one year. Use this promotional code to redeem the offer.

"You've got Mail" is back

Boom hilft in solchen Fällen weiter.
